coaching

With the demands of modern business, many managers feel that they have too little time to spend coaching, developing and nurturing their staff.  Yet if someone is unhappy, stressed or underperforming, this can have a significant impact on business objectives.  Once these problems arise, they tend to persist and become more pronounced over time.

I can help.  I work with a wide range of clients to address issues such as underperformance, both at individual and team level.  I develop a strong relationship with managers and work with them towards achieving long-term goals, benefiting the whole team and forming a chain of positivity.

My coaching provides the catalyst for individuals to realise change from within themselves.  I engage with people easily and quickly get to the root of performance difficulties, drawing on my fifteen years’ experience of company management, my psychotherapeutic training and my ten years of coaching.  My approach is compassionate and understanding, yet challenging and affirming.   This enables me to quickly establish a rapport and develop mutual trust and respect, even with people whose preconception of coaching is sceptical and wary.  It allows me to really challenge people, without making them feel uncomfortable or defensive.

“Michele has worked with several of our senior managers and is able to cover a broad spectrum of needs in her coaching sessions, depending on the individual and the situation.  This has ranged from skills coaching, to inspiring attitudinal change, from facilitating thinking about business and people issues, to exploring feelings and emotional responses.  She is very flexible in her approach and is always challenging in a non-threatening way.” Claire Phillips, Training & Development Manager, Blackwell Publishing Ltd.

The confidential nature of coaching enables clients to talk about what is really affecting them without fear of recrimination or judgement.  I use my knowledge as an experienced, qualified psychotherapist to identify with people I am coaching and speak their language, rather than offer them rigid business models.  I am a natural problem-solver, and give people the framework to break a difficulty down into its essential components, making it easier to solve.

I work with managers and Human Resource Departments to develop coaching programmes to meet specific requirements. Coaching sessions typically last three hours.  A programme will usually comprise between four to six sessions.  No two coaching sessions are the same, each being fully tailored to the nature of the individual.
